Welcome! Do you know that decades of research show that when parents are involved at the school, students have:

  • Higher grades, test scores, and graduation rates
  • Better school attendance
  • Increased motivation, better self-esteem
  • Lower rates of suspension
  • Decreased use of drugs and alcohol
  • Fewer instances of violent behavior

Studies show the effect is multiplied when fathers volunteer at their child’s school. The VRE Dads’ Club is a way for fathers of VRE students to participate more fully in their children’s education and to help raise money for school technology. The time commitment isn’t big, maybe an hour or two per month, but the benefits are huge and lasting, and the events are enjoyable and personally satisfying. So subscribe to the mailing list at right to start receiving meeting and event notifications, and commit to help strengthen your student’s educational environment; you’ll be glad you did!

Dads,

Field day is coming this Friday May 20th and we still need volunteers. This is a favorite day for the kids but we can’t pull it off without your help. We need volunteers to help setup in the morning, oversee the games, and help tear down in the afternoon. Please give a few hours of your time to make great memories for your child. Go to this link to volunteer.

Thanks,

Doug

Dads,

We will have our next dads club meeting tomorrow night (5/9) at 7:30PM. In an effort to increase participation, we are changing up things a bit this month and having the meeting at Buffalo Wild Wings (between “On the Border” and “Boston’s Restaurant”, in MacArthur Market Place). Topics we will discuss include:

  • Teacher Appreciation Breakfast
  • Golf Tournament
We really need your support so please come out to the meeting and get involved with your child’s school. See you Monday night!

So you’ve heard about the CISD Elementary Dads’ Clubs Golf Challenge but you’re reluctant to register because you’ve never played golf before. Here are three reasons why this event is the perfect opportunity for you to try the game of golf:

  1. No pressure – The “scramble” format means you don’t have to use your own shot! After each shot, the team picks the best shot landing location from which to hit their next shot. Hit a bad shot? No problem, you get to hit your next shot from the spot of the best shot in your group. Hit another bad shot? No problem again. Maybe your putting stroke is good and you can help your team that way. This format is the perfect way to play without the pressure of worrying whether or not you can hit the ball well consistently.
  2. No embarrassment – There will be other players who have little golf experience so don’t worry about being the “worst golfer on the course”.  Plus, we’ll try to team you up with more experienced golfers.
  3. New friends – golf is a great way to meet new friends or spend time with existing friends.

Golf is by far the most popular participatory sport among senior executives and business people in general; everyone who works for a business should take up the sport. Plus it’s fun and challenging! So come out and have fun, support VRE, and hone or develop your golfing skills. You’ll be glad you did!
