All posts for the month December, 2017

As you probably heard, the Dads’ Club held a fund raiser last Friday. The movie “Moana” was screened in the school cafeteria after receiving the most votes in a student poll.  Over 100 attendees pre-registered for the event and another 25-40 walked up and paid at the door.  The reviews were very positive from everyone. Attendees purchased movie tickets, pizza, popcorn and drinks. Total revenues exceeded $750 and net profits totaled about $550! While not as profitable as the last movie night, this result was still quite good.

We couldn’t have held such a successful event without the assistance of many dedicated volunteers including:

  • Principal Arterbery for providing access to her staff and the facilities, and for kicking off the event
  • Assistant Principals Mary Myles French and Leigh Ann Howard for assisting during the event
  • VRE Office Admins, Michell Margolis and Megan Grantonic, who helped promote and organize the event
  • Cafe’ Manager Beth Tipton for allowing access to the warming ovens in the kitchen
  • Ms. Hilda for letting us use the cafeteria and re-arrange her tables
  • Hari Natarajan and Niraj Shah for volunteering during “Lunch w/ Dads”
  • Librarian Anu Khosla for loaning the computer and projector
  • Arpan Prakash and Music Teacher Lauren Zeek for assisting with the video and audio setup
  • Muhammad Qassafi, Viren Karia, Manoj Sethi, Karthick Soundararajan, Antonio Valente, and Apurva Dholabhai for manning the registration & ticket desk, popcorn production, and food service
  • Bliss Blodget-Stephan, Zoe Stephan, Gianna Valente, and Mahesh Anand for initial food setup and serving help
  • … and last but certainly not least, Tarun Anand for organizing, helping with morning announcements, purchasing supplies, and generally performing about half the work required to pull off this event
There were other volunteers who’s names I can’t recall but your help was greatly appreciated. Thanks to everyone for making this event such a huge success. We plan on hosting another movie event in the Spring so stay tuned for details. Have happy and safe holidays!

All,

A few clarifications regarding the movie tonight. First, everyone is welcome: students, parents, siblings, cousins, grandparents, and friends. Also, while we will be shutting down the online order form in a few hours, we will have walk up tickets available. However, we may not have pizza available for all walk-up patrons.

Doors will open at 6:15PM and we’ll start serving food then. Please purchase tickets and meals at this link.  Also, we still need a few more dads to serve food and drinks. Please sign up to volunteer here. Thanks and we hope to see all of you tonight!

Dads,

This is the last chance to purchase tickets for the Dads’ Club Movie Night; we will be airing the film “Moana” tomorrow night starting at 6:45PM in the cafeteria. Doors will open at 6:15PM and we’ll start serving food then. Please purchase tickets and meals at this linkWe will be shutting down the online ordering page tomorrow morning and only walk up tickets, with no guarantee of pizza choice, will remain after that point. Also, we still need a few more dads to serve food and drinks. Please sign up to volunteer here. Thanks and we hope to see all of you tomorrow!

Dads,

First of all, we had fantastic attendance at our Lunch With Dad event last Friday. Thanks to all of you who took time to eat lunch with your child. As you know, our primary fund raising event, VRE Movie Night, is this coming Friday, December 8th. You can purchase tickets here. Doors will open at 6:15PM and we’ll start serving pizza and drinks at that time, and then the movie will begin at 6:45PM. We need several dads to help us run this event in two different areas: 1) we need people to work at the front table to greet attendees, check the registration list, collect money for walk up customers, and distribute tickets for pizza and drinks, and 2) we need people to serve pizza, canned drinks and popcorn. Please click here and sign up to help out with this important fund raising event.
